After Long Ado...
November 7, 2006, brought into focus an evermore clear picture of the ignorance of the American people. Democrats took the House with overwhelming majority and unfortunately barely won the Senate. When the 110th Congress convenes in January, there will be many new changes in the way this country runs.
The Democrats and Liberals were able to convince the American people of a need for change for sake of change saying, “After twelve years let it be our turn,” was their cry. Last time I checked Congress was held by a Democrat majority for some forty years before the Gingrich Revolution. All this change will bring to government is a “Gridlock” between congress and the President.
Inasmuch as Nancy Pelosi and other Democrat party leaders have conferences with President Bush and saying, “We want to have a smooth ‘bipartisan’ government,” many Republicans and Democrats alike know that what is said means nothing. The Democrats know full well that they do not intend to have a bipartisan government; instead they will continue to undermine the President. When the 110th Congress convenes they will instantly begin raise taxes, neuter the military, and cause as much chaos with the administration as they can.
And with regards to terrorism, I believe this Congress will begin to pull troops out of Iraq, thus throwing Iraq into civil war. As I speak there are hundreds of thousands of Islamic radicals burning American flags, preaching our destruction, and telling their friends and children how one day the flag of Mohammed will fly over the White House. And do you know why they do this now more than ever before? Because they know that all Democrats wish to do is talk and understand the enemy while the enemy knows that is a weakness they may easily exploit. Question: How can you use diplomacy with someone who cares nothing about it? Answer: you can’t.
I may only hope that this new Congress proves my predictions wrong, for it would be a great help to America’s struggle. However, with continued resentment toward America and new abilities to manipulate our efforts, the Democrats will have a long road ahead to keep America what it is, “The land of the Free.”

So what do you think of Pelosi's first act as Speaker Elect when she couldn't get her man, Murtha, elected Majority Whip?
Interesting. The leberals were saying the same thing two years ago....
If the liberals were saying the same thing two years ago, it was a lie. Republicans always advocate for military build up and Democrats want build down. Also, Liberals alwaya wish to understand and not fight, while Republicans do not. Just look at what happened after September 11, 2001, all the Liberals wanted to "understand" the highjackers. There is nothing to understand, they attacked us! Period!
It concerns me that the discussions are growing increasingly partisan. I grow weary of party politics. Can't we just get together and do what's best for the country?
There's no such thing as bipartisan politics!!!
...either you're being facetious or you need to drink bleach.

Please take a local community class in basic political science. It would do wonders to help fill the gaping hole you have in your understanding of how politics works in the U.S.
der meister:
I would have suggested reading Machiavelli, but you're years of study away from being able to make sense of the father of political science.
Anonymous 1:
Define the gaping hole in understanding that I seem to posses. The American system of democracy has changed drastically over the past 50 years, and I merely called for a return to the old system - you know, the one that actually got things done. I find party zealots a detriment to our nation, and I see nothing here but partisan rhetoric. So, before you post sardonic comments, put a little thought into other peoples' words.
Anonymous 2:
I find it increasingly disturbing that Machiavelli is being credited as being the "father of political science". Of course, Il Principe was an excellent analysis of the classic monarchy, and his Discorsi is fundamental to understanding the roots of American government (or Roman law, as it were), but his influences were far-reaching and much of his work was less than original. How could one possibly credit an Italian Renaissance man as the father of political science when political science had been debated for thousands of years prior to his existence? A brilliant man, yes. A father, no.
I'm not entirely sure what either one of you are on about, but perhaps stating an opposing view would be a better course of action than making unwarranted and false attacks.
Der Meister:
I completely understand your view that we should have bipartisanism in our government. Unfortunately to ask of that to happen would be disingenuous.
I agree that politics is always partisan. How is it that since the founding of America, partisans existed? Our country is founded on bipartisanism and what makes more apparent and work far better than in any other country, is that you may have a different view than another person/party and face no recrimination.
I do not think party zealots are a detriment to our nation because it is those zealots who make strong political parties. Yes, sometimes they take their zealousness to another level but you always have to expect that with any political party. Look at Hitler and his Nazi party…
I too wish we could bring America back to its earlier days, with a government that works, but unless we have a drastic change in the people we elect it looks as though that wish will take myriad of years.

I put great thought into your words, they're nonsense. And to respond to your belief that Machiavelli was not the father of the science of politics because politics existed before Machiavelli is like saying that the U.S. should not be credited with the first written constitution because others scribbled notes about concepts that it contains.
Anonymous:
Machiavelli was a brilliant political philosopher. So was Marx. So was Hitler. So was Julius Caesar. None of their ideas, however, were entirely original, and regardless of their success, credit should be placed where credit is due. To say that Machiavelli founded political science is like saying any of those other men founded the art. That's nothing short of ludicrous.
Despite your Patriotism, which is to your credit, you're sorely mistaken. The fact of the matter is that if it weren't for those "others" that scribbled notes, our Constitution would not exist today - nor would the United States be as great a nation as it is today. It's to our nation's credit that we put together our Constitution, but let's not forget other important documents that preceded it - The Magna Carta, The English Bill of Rights, for example.
Oh, and by the way - the U.S. didn't create the first written constitution. Many of the ancient Greek city-states had written constitutions, and the Dutch Republic had had a written constitution for 2 centuries when our founding fathers signed their work. That constitution, by the way, is credited with greatly influencing the U.S. Constitution.
I would have suggested reading some basic work on the influences of the U.S. Constitution, but you're clearly too arrogant to want to make sense of it.
Potomack:
I desire not a bipartisan affair. In actuality, I think partisanship ruins our American system. Our country wasn't founded with a two-party system - it naturally worked out that way. And ever since, the two parties have been increasingly difficult to stand against, no matter what the American people think.
Why are parties a benefit to our nation? Why is it that the American people cannot pick the man/woman who has the best ideas and the greatest leadership ability to do the job? Party politics restricts both politicians and the people who are forced to vote for them. That isn't right.
And you're right. The system is firmly entrenched now, and is probably impossible to alter. That was what concerns me the most.
